I am so excited! On May 29, 2010 the planet Uranus moves into the sign of Aries. A new beginning is coming! To me Uranus is the planet that
reveals God’s voice to us through our intuition. My intuition tells me that the seven years of Uranus in Aries is the new beginning that we have all been waiting for. Another new beginning of the Age of Aquarius is at hand!
We are clearly at the cusp or in the transition between the ages so what about the last two thousand years? This question is still asked of me by students and clients alike. How do we prepare for what is to come if we do not know what we are leaving? What are the blessings and the curses of that time? Uranus has been traveling through the sign of Pisces for the last seven years to help us clarify, discriminate and choose what we, as individuals, wish to bring from the last two thousand years into the next epoch – The Age of Aquarius...
The Age of Pisces
The Age of Pisces taught that humanity needs to relate to the divine and the world-at-large through a more emotional filter. In its more constructive aspect, this brought about a newfound element of compassion and faith in society, especially within Christian society. We see the emergence of a spiritual sensibility that spoke of "turning the other cheek" rather than the smiting of one's enemies. Jesus spoke about God, not as an angry God, but as a God of forgiveness. Christ was the son of this loving God, a lamb, a gentle creature. He died for humanity’s sins, which made Him the victim and redeemer. Pisces is the martyr, sacrificing it for the needs of others. Christ’s resurrection symbolizes the rebirth into spirit, a Pisces reality. Throughout His short ministry there was a plethora of Pisces symbols: baptism by water, the washing of feet, disciples who were fisherman, turning water into wine, miracles, spiritual healing, drawing fish in the sand and so many more. Christ’s message was that of forgiveness, what Pisces does best!
The crucifixion is one of the primary focuses of this Age. Consider that for 2,000 years we have defined our spiritual nature by a man being nailed to a cross and being tortured and killed. It symbolizes the best and worse of Pisces. Negatively the crucifixion expresses the qualities such as self-pity, masochism, guilt, and martyrdom. This was an era when many felt that suffering and guilt were somehow synonymous with spirituality. Many of us are plagued by these neurotic beliefs today.
The crucifixion can also be seen as the transcendence of the ego and a surrendering of one selfness for a higher ideal to serve. In its most profound sense the crucifixion means the principle of sacrifice, worship, profound devotion. It is the water element at its most refined.
Conversely the Pisces Age had been characterized to a large extent by near-sightedness, interspersed with religious bigotry, dogmatism, self- conceit and opportunism, due largely to lack of knowledge. A lot of atrocities have been perpetrated in the name of God and in the bid to attain salvation, coupled with so much rancor and strife between different Religious Sects and denominations and their various adherents on the “true and only route to God”. Some lay claim absolutely to the only one true God as though they have some form of copyright on God, while all non-believers are automatically excluded from God’s kingdom. Pisces is intensely concerned with matters of faith. However, taken to extremes, this can lead to zealotry, self-righteousness, and the urge to establish absolute guidelines for all to follow. At its worst, the Piscean Age was an era of religious intolerance, when large populations were expected to show unquestioning allegiance to a rigid belief system.
On a psychological level the Pisces age brought about an emotional need to take responsibility for our actions. We refer to that feeling as shame or guilt. It taught us to value controlling our impulsive and aggressive actions, which were part of the Arian experience.
The Piscean Personality
The Piscean principle is transcendence from the material to the spiritual. Its experience is personal sacrifice for the self of redemption. It symbolizes the myth of sacrifice, which creates leaving the physical plane to enter the higher spiritual realm, followed by spiritual redemption only to return to the physical realm a spiritually transformed figure. This is accomplished by the need to enter into the suffering of human experience in order to become compassionate and empathetic to become more spiritual. Christ as the ruler of the Piscean Age is one of the archetypes of sacrifice and redemption. On a psychological level Pisces represents an attempt to reconcile the challenges intrinsic in the integration of spiritual and material paths. Often this path to redemption creates the “victim/savior” compulsion, which leads to significant problems. Relationships that are sourced by this compulsion are denigrating to both partners. There is no growth only suffering. One person is dependent, the other enables and no one wins. Pisces strives for attunement and an idealistic compassionate experience. In essence it wants to emulate the Christ! It is also highly creative and artistic, striving to create a perfect world.
Uranus in Pisces
Uranus creates an opportunity to create freedom and independence of previously held beliefs that would enslave or bless us. Therefore the final months of Uranus in Pisces will bring us face to face with unexpected experiences that will teach us what ancient Piscean values and beliefs that we need to claim or that no longer serve us. Check out the following bullets. Evaluate your attitudes and see what you need to reevaluate and transform.
Old Pisces Beliefs
• Christ is the archetype of sacrifice and redemption.
• We must emulate Him, ,therefore we must be martyrs and a victim.
• Christ is perfect; therefore we must strive for perfection.
• We are sinful and filled with guilt. Our journey is to be redeemed through penance and sacrifice.
• God exists outside of us. We are basically inadequate and child like and need an external God to guide us and take care of us.
• The spiritual plain more desirable than the material plane, so earthly pleasures are to be renounced for more spiritual pursuits.
• Heaven (good) and Hell (evil) are the only choices of our earthly experience; therefore all important decisions also exist in an extreme right/wrong paradigm.
• Love conquers all so we must never be self centered and love ourselves first.
• Humility and compassion are morally correct so we must always turn the other cheek.
• Religious authorities represent God’s word on earth and must never be challenged.
Perfectionism is the Culprit
I have spent seven years coaching and teaching people to find their own unique path to independence from these outdated and imprisoning beliefs. In all of my years of experience extremism seems to be the most difficult belief to change. Let’s do a little exercise together. Think of a situation in your life that seems to have an either / or solution. Pay attention to your body, how are you feeling? Tense? Watch your hands, do they feel like making a fist? Go with that and pay attention to how tight those fists can be. This is your body’s reaction to an old Pisces belief that there are only two solutions to any problem. It is deep in our unconscious to believe that there is a good or evil, heaven or hell, black or white, right or wrong. We have lived for two thousand years being brainwashed to believe in a simplistic, childish view that lead us to feeling tense, scared and often immobilized. How often do we believe that if we take an action it must be done ‘Right” if not “Perfect”. I would bet that extreme attitude stops us in our tracks and we end up doing nothing at all. So many clients tell me that they are chronic procrastinators and even lazy in their approach to life... I do not believe that they procrastinate. I certainly would not judge them as lazy. I tell them that they are afraid that they will not have the perfect results that they want... Perfectionism is the culprit. They have judged themselves harshly out of guilt. They compare ourselves constantly to others and feel inadequate. They are living in the throes of old Pisces beliefs.
Forgiveness is the Key
“Forgiveness is the key to action and freedom” Hannah Arendt
It is my opinion that the most important spiritual quality that we needed to learn in the 2,000 years of the Age of Pisces is the power of Forgiveness. Without it we cannot live a life of freedom and joy. To live in grace and forgiveness means that we have become conscious of past life guilt and have resolved it. To forgive ourselves also means that we must forgive others. If we cannot forgive, we live in the fear that others will not forgive us. It is very exciting to know that this age is morphing into something brand new – The Age of Aquarius.
Past Lives Emerge
My husband Michael and I bring people to our home in Jay, Vermont to do personal retreats. Their personal reasons vary but the underlying quest is the same. They want to be FREE of old, contaminated feelings of guilt, shame and fear. They come because they are tired of living lives of “quiet desperation” to quote David Thoreau. Their souls lead them here to investigate and discover the old past lives that keep them feeling like perpetrators that need to be redeemed and forgiven or victims that need to forgive. We help them discover those core past lives. Grace is what they seek and what they will find. Please contact me if you wish more information on our Vermont retreating process.
